257,
Krishna hostel, IIT Madras. I write this as I bid adieu to IIT Madras
in a couple of days. I came here 2 years back. Back then I was all
confused. I thought everyone around me were smarter than me. I started
asking myself whether I was really smart enough to be at IIT. This place
looked so alien to me. Each day I heard so many languages here, I used
to get totally lost in them. But studying here has always been my
dream. Perhaps this kept me going all these days. Two years later on the
other end of the tunnel it’s a different story altogether. I have got a
few smart friends who made me smarter than I used to be a couple of
years earlier. Now I can proudly say 'I Belong here'.
I just love this amazing place.
I guess all smart people take the adage “All work and no play makes
Jack a dull boy” seriously. There are many things which I think will
stay in my memory forever. The most memorable of them are the birthdays.
No one in my class I guess will ever forget the bumps they got. As
someone said “Never ever miss an IIT Holi”, I never missed one either.
Holi is the one festival which makes you a kid again no matter what you
are. Lots of memories made.
I fear missing this amazing place.
May be I can never do night outs again playing ‘least count’ and
‘bluff’ with the geeks of communication systems. The tranquil roads,
chirping birds, the ever naughty monkeys, the white blackbucks with V
shaped horns , the fun we had late nights at ccd, the hostel nights, the
dc++, raju gari seminars, ravi’s one-liners, samrat advices, the
cricket matches, the badminton we played, freshie and farwell parties,
I will treasure the memories of this amazing place.
I loved every bit of my stay at this amazing place. I owe a great part
of it to my friends. I know a great journey awaits them. Wishing all the
success
